How long is the drive from Sofia to Plovdiv?

The distance is about 150 km and the drive takes around 1 h 45 min. Almost all of it is on the Trakia motorway, which is straight and even, so it is an easy trip for most dogs and cats. If your pet needs a stretch, tell the driver and we stop at a petrol station on the way. One short break is usually enough on this route.

From Sofia Airport the time is about the same, because the airport is on the east side of Sofia, close to the start of the motorway. In the morning and evening rush hours, crossing Sofia can add 15 to 30 minutes.

Where does the driver meet me?

In Sofia we pick you up from your address: a flat, a hotel, an office, a vet clinic or the bus and train stations. At Sofia Airport the driver meets you in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. We follow your flight, so if it lands late, the driver waits for you at no extra charge.

In Plovdiv we drive you to the exact address: home, hotel, guest house or the Old Town. You do not change cars and you do not carry the crate across a station.

Can I bring a big dog?

Yes. A cat or a small dog in a carrier travels well in a sedan. For a medium or large dog in a hard crate, book a minivan. It has room for the crate and your suitcases, so the crate stands flat and does not move. If you are a family with a big dog, a pushchair and a lot of luggage, a van is the safe choice. Tell us the size of the crate when you book, and the dispatcher confirms the right vehicle.

Our rules for carrying animals

• We carry animals only together with their owner or the person who looks after them. We do not transport a pet on its own.
• The animal travels in its own crate or carrier. Bring a blanket or a towel your pet knows, it helps them settle.
• Tell us at booking that you travel with a pet, what kind and how big. The price stays the same as on the price list.
• If your pet gets car sick, ask your vet before the trip and do not feed a big meal just before leaving.

Why a private transfer and not the bus or train?

Buses between Sofia and Plovdiv often do not take animals, or only small ones in a closed bag. The train allows pets with conditions and you still have to get to the station and from it. With a private transfer you travel door to door, in a car only for you, and you can stop when your dog needs to. For two to four people the price of the car is shared, so it is often close to the cost of separate tickets plus local taxis.

How do I pay?

You pay the driver after the ride. We do not ask for prepayment or a deposit. The price you see in the calculator is the price for the whole car, one way.
